There There is an exhibition featuring the site-specific and process-based work of Brisbane artist Rebecca Ross. For this exhibition, Ross employs PVC vinyl in a range of colours to create an installation that responds to the gallery space, allowing it to influence the way the work unfolds and takes form. Physical space takes on another level of significance for Ross with her studio located within the same building as the gallery; the close proximity of these two places acts as a connection and ties these sites together, for the artist, in time and space. There There is inspired by this link between these sites and refers to the transition from “there” (the studio) to “there” (the gallery). The resulting installation draws attention to the subjective experience of being located and moving through physical space and the relationship of memory space to physical space, both unconscious processes significant to our experience and understanding of the world around us.
