Rachael Haynes
Rachael Haynes creates intricate installations pieced together with paper and thread and are often accompanied with sound. Her delicate works are visually intriguing and transform an environment subtly through shapes and forms that resemble small creatures. Haynes holds a PhD in visual arts at Queensland University of Technology. Her other achievements include a Melville Hayson Memorial Scholarship (2001) at the Queensland Art Gallery, which afforded her a studio for three months, and the Eddie Hopkins Memorial Drawing Prize (1998) from Queensland College of Art. Her work has been exhibited locally and nationally, including such galleries as Metro Arts (QLD), The Farm Space (QLD), the State Library of Queensland (QLD), Rocketart (NSW), Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (WA), and as part of the 2004 Next Wave Festival (VIC). For the foyer display at Gadens Lawyers, Rachael Haynes created a series of intricate works made from coloured tissue paper.
